Company creating Rochester, N.Y.-based campus in support of HR Services, technology growth; new positions to be located there

Paychex, Inc., a leading provider of integrated human capital management solutions for small- to medium-sized businesses, today announced the addition of 625 new jobs over the next five years and the creation of a multi-building campus in Rochester, New York in support of the company’s growth in its human capital management (HCM) product offerings and technology-enabled service.

“Paychex is growing, and this investment in our products, people, and technology reflects our commitment to continuing our track record of growth,” says Martin Mucci, Paychex president and CEO.   “As we expand our human capital management product set and our investment in technology, we will also expand our workforce, giving more talented people an opportunity to join Paychex and be part of our growth.”

As part of the project, Paychex will purchase five buildings and renovate more than 300,000 square feet of existing space in the Rochester, New York suburb of Henrietta.   The five parcels are in addition to six locations Paychex currently owns in the Rochester area, including the company’s headquarters.   When completed, more than 2,000 of the 5,000 Rochester-based Paychex employees will work at the new campus, including the 625 who will be added as part of the project.

New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today joined Paychex’s president and CEO, and hundreds of Paychex employees and invited guests, to announce the project. To encourage Paychex to create the new jobs and campus in Rochester, New York’s Empire State Development organization offered up to $14 million in incentives related to job creation and renovation expenses.   The total cost of the project is approximately $60 million.

“This project will help ensure Paychex remains a major economic driver for Monroe County and the surrounding communities and provides quality jobs for hard-working New Yorkers throughout the region,” Governor Cuomo said. “By supporting the company’s expansion and growth in the Finger Lakes, we will help create hundreds of job opportunities and continue moving the region forward.”

The new positions added over the next five years will largely be in the areas of technology, product development, and sales. Paychex currently employs approximately 14,000 people companywide.
